We have an established client base across the South Island with dedicated offices in Dunedin & Central Otago. Our clients range from Tertiary Institutes, local Government, Corporates, Private Building owners, Medical, Industrial, Consultants, Main Contractors & Sub-Contractors.

Contego were engaged to complete all Passive Fire Protection on this multi-level Aged Care Apartment complex in 2019.

Contego ensured our team on the ground kept in touch with every stage of the build and made sure programme was maintained as well as a high standard and full compliance. Challenges on this project included 120 minute fire rated ceilings and prefabricated pod bathrooms. Contego Manager Kyle Osten provided regular solutions for the build team.

Contego were engaged by Presbyterian Support Otago in 2018 after they received failed BWOF notices for their 16 buildings including Aged Care facilities. Presbyterian Support were an extremely proactive client and did not want to defer any such works. Contego came up with a remedial strategy and project teams to tackle each building within their required timeframes. 

 The end result is that each building was able to receive a 12A and fully compliant Passive Fire systems.

Contego has maintained an ongoing maintenance role with Presbyterian Support Otago on their buildings ensuring that no future defects are created. We have managed this through creating specific Passive Fire Management guides for each of their centres. Presbyterian Support Otago Managers were always complementary about the Contego tradesmen within their buildings with taking special consideration for the sensitive operating environment.

In 2017 Contego were engaged by Summerset to complete Passive Fire remedials within their Dunedin resthome facility. This process involved auditing the building from head to toe and coming up with a remedial plan that was achievable around the Resthomes operations as well as completing in a timely manner.

Contego completed the Passive Fire works and the client was able to achieve a Form 12 for their BWOF. Contego has maintained an ongoing maintenance and service relationship with the Summerset team and regularly assist with any new alterations within the complex.

Contego were approached by the client to scope and quote Passive Fire Upgrade works. This involved scoping the upgrade works with nothing more than a Fire report. Therefore there were no Architectural drawings or the like to price from.

Contego completed careful planning and design to ensure the significant Passive Fire Upgrade works could occur with minimal disruption to the facilities operations.

The works themselves involved constructing new fire walls both below & above ceilings including fire doors, services penetrations, fire walls and the like. These works have had to be completed around existing residents including Dementia ward. Our role on this project was a full scale build and management of all sub-contractors.

Ryman Healthcare were undertaking a significant upgrade to their existing facility in St Clair, Dunedin when Contego were contacted regarding some Passive Fire works mid-build. Contego were able to mobilise in a short space of time and maintain their necessary programme. 

Following on from the first stage Contego were engaged to provide design and build solutions for the remainder of Passive Fire Upgrades throughout the future stages. Contego quickly identified that the designed system was not buildable nor cost effective. Contego then designed a system that was fully compliant and provided time and cost savings to the client.
