Contego have completed Passive Fire remedial works throughout this significant building for the DCC.

The building has encountered decades of alterations and Passive Fire oversights and Contego were tasked with completing remedial works to maintain the BWOF status.

Contego were given approval to complete this work with Covid_19 Level 3 lockdown requirements whilst the building was at low occupancy. Contego were able to achieve the remedial works in the timeframe with little to no disruption to DCC staff & operations.

In 2020 Contego completed significant Passive Fire Remedial works throughout this Heritage building including Fire stopping penetrations, Gib Fire rated ceilings, Fire door remedials. All this work was completed prior to the theatre re-opening to the general public following Covid_19 lockdowns in 2020.

Passive Fire remedials in a theatre environment required detailed consideration for how the theatre would be used on an ongoing basis which means services are not static. They are installed & removed for each performance. Contego were able to install transit fire stopping systems that pleased the Theatre staff & maintained full compliance for the facility.

Adding to the complexity of this Passive Fire project was the fact that this is a Heritage building with care needed working around particular areas & details. The Regent Theatre is proudly showcasing Dunedin and the countries arts and theatre in a fully compliant Passive Fire protected building.

Home to Dunedin’s court sports including Tennis, Basketball, Netball and others this large facility has been maintained to a compliant condition by Contego.

Works involved in this sporting complex have included Fire door maintenance, new alterations and IQP inspections.



An Iconic building in the heart of Dunedin’s Octagon. Contego have completed Passive Fire remedial works within this grand space as well as ongoing maintenance and IQP work.

This is a Heritage building of prominence along with the fact it is home to a world class Art Collection. Contego team had to be extra cautious with every element of working in this building.

Special care was taken with working spaces and had to be co-ordinated with Gallery Curators so that no exhibit was put at risk.

Contego oversee the Passive Fire Compliance of this sporting venue for DCC. The Passive Fire systems including entertainment spaces and mezzanine.

Our IQP services provided on this building underpin a strong track record and preferred contractor status with DCC Property.



The Oamaru Opera House is a unique Heritage venue. Contego systems were pleased to be able to complete the compliance of fire rating penetrations in this Heritage building for the Waitaki District Council.



Contego were engaged by the Main Contractor Cook Brothers for Passive Fire Protection services on this New Swimming Pool Project. Contego were able to provide fully compliant solutions for some high demand Fire ratings including major structural penetrations and complex plant room details.
